AI-Powered Vineyard Management
VITISENSE (VITIculture SENSor-based fertilisation with AI) is a precision agriculture project funded by the European Union, developed by DATINNOVA S.r.l. in partnership with CONFAGRI (Portugal) under the AGRARIAN Open Call 2 programme.
IoT sensors at the vineyard collect daily soil and meteorological data. A preprocessing container running on a Raspberry Pi serialises this data into a compact payload, transmitted via NB-IoT to a LEO satellite, where two lightweight AI models run directly onboard the Intel Myriad X chip.
The system answers the farmer's daily question: "Is the soil ready to absorb nutrients, and is the vine in an active growth phase?" . Results are transmitted back to the AGRARIAN ADSS dashboard, where farmers and agronomists can access actionable fertilisation recommendations in near real-time.
Soil Status Model
Predicts daily soil moisture and classifies water status as drought, optimal, or excess water, guiding irrigation and nutrient uptake decisions.
Crop Health Model
Classifies the vine's phenological stage (dormancy, growth, or maturation) using Growing Degree Days (Winkler scale), defining the optimal fertilisation window.
